How to get around Trento

Centro storico Trento

Historic centre

The historic centre of Trento is very intimate and walkable. All the city’s main monuments and places of interest can be reached on foot with just a short walk. From the train station in Piazza Dante, it takes just a few minutes to get to Piazza del Duomo (550 m) and Piazza Santa Maria Maggiore (450 m), while it’s less than 15 minutes to Piazza Fiera (1.1 km), Buonconsiglio Castle (700 m) and the Santa Chiara Auditorium (1.2 km).
Trento is served by a public transport system within and outside of the city, which is managed by Trentino Trasporti Esercizio.
Buses can take you to all areas of Trento and the surrounding districts from 5:30/6:00 a.m. to 11:30 p.m. For schedules and prices, see the official Trentino Trasporti Esercizio website.

Treni locali Trentino

Local trains

The local Valsugana train connects Trento to the eastern end of the province, going all the way to Bassano del Grappa and making stops within the city at Ospedale Santa Chiara, San Bartolameo, Villazzano and Povo-Mesiano.

The local Trento-Malè-Mezzana train, on the other hand, travels north towards Val di Non and Val di Sole, with a stop in the commercial district of Trento Nord.

Funivia Sardagna Trentino

Cable car

Finally, it is possible to get to the district of Sardagna — on the western hill — using the cable car, which runs from 7:00 a.m. to 10:30 p.m. on working days and holidays. Bikes can be taken on some of the cable car runs, while a substitute bus service is provided in the event of bad weather.

Trasporto pubblico Trentino

Public transport

Tickets for public transport in the city can be purchased at stations, from tobacconists, on board the buses (at a higher price) and using your smartphone with the Open Move app. If you have the Trentino Guest Card, you can travel for free on all public transport in the province.

bike sharing

Bikesharing

Trento also has the e.motion bike sharing service with 19 docks where you can hire public bicycles, traditional or electric, without the need to return them to the same dock when you’re finished. The service is available 24/7. Bicycles can be taken from the docks directly by the users themselves using an enabled MITT Smart Card or, for occasional users, by purchasing short-term memberships using the BicinCittà app.

You can find all the information here.
