He lectures at the LUISS in Rome and is Professor Emeritus at Duke University, as well as Research Fellow at the Centre for Economic Policy Research. He has been Full Professor of Economic Policy at the University of Venice, and Economic History at the University of Roma Tor Vergata. His main areas of research are European economic development from 1800 to the present day, monetary and financial history, and the economic policy of the European Union.
