Paola Severino is Vice-President of LUISS Guido Carli University, with responsibility for promoting international relations. From 2016 to 2018 she was Rector of the University, and before that Pro-Rector. She is Professor of Criminal Law at LUISS University and Chair of the Scientific Board at the LUISS School of Law. From January 2018 to December 2020 she was OSCE special representative on combating corruption. In March 2019 she was awarded the title of Chevalier de la Légion d’Honneur (Knight of the Legion of Honour) by the French President Emmanuel Macron. In June 2018 she was awarded an honorary degree in law by the University of Glasgow. In 2015 she was awarded the order of merit of the Italian Republic “Cavaliere di Gran Croce” (Knight Grand Cross). She was Minister of Justice in Monti’s government. From 1997 to 2001, she held the post of Vice-President of the High Council of the Military Judiciary. A lawyer since 1975, she provides consultancy and defence services in the field of economic criminal law.
