He is currently Professor of Economics at the University of Torino, and Director of the Allievi Program and Fellow of the Collegio Carlo Alberto. He is also director of the think tank LTI@Unito, and a research fellow of CEPR (London), IZA (Bonn), and head of Labor Studies at Fondazione Debenedetti.
He is one of the founding and current editors of www.lavoce.info.
Between 2004 and 2005 he was the Economic Counselor of the Italian Ministry of Finance. He was previously an economist in the IMF Research Department and an associate professor of Economics at Università Bocconi (Milan).
His main research interests are in the macroeconomics of the labor market, with particular emphasis on institutions and labor finance interactions. His has widely published on numerous scientific journals and is also author and editor of books published by Oxford University Press.
