With the new theme 'From the market to new powers. The hope of young people' the Trento Festival of Economics continues its mission of contrasting two distinct realities. On one hand, it examines the unsettling international and geopolitical landscape, where market laws are fading as a primary reference point in favor of emerging powers like Big Tech and autarchies. On the other hand, it highlights the hopes of young people as the essential resource to invest in for a better future.

With the new title “From the market to new powers. The hope of young people,” the Trento Festival of Economics continues its commitment to comparing, on one hand, the unsettling framework of international scenarios and geopolitics—which see the laws of the market fading as a reference point and the rise of new powers such as Big Tech and autocracies—and, on the other hand, the hopes of young people as the resource to bet on for a better future. In this context, it is indeed important for the West to recover the ground it has lost and will lose, and it can do so only if the strength of youth is put at the forefront.
In 2022, the theme “After the Pandemic: Between Order and Disorder” aimed to delve into the deep social, economic, and political effects of the pandemic, while the 2023 edition titled “The Future of the Future. The Challenges of a New World” undertook to outline the impact that major technological and socio-economic transformations will have on humanity. In 2024, with “Quo Vadis? The Dilemmas of Our Time”, the Festival analyzed the great issues that our time poses to us, from the intensification of conflicts in the world to the growth of inflation and public debt, from climate change to the demographic winter. In 2025, on the occasion of the Festival's 20th anniversary, the analysis was dedicated to “Fatal Risks and Choices. Europe at a Crossroads.”

Scientific Committee
The Scientific Committee is chaired by the Director of Sole 24 Ore, Radio 24 and the news agency Radiocor Fabio Tamburini, and consists of Professor Ericka Costa, Full Professor of Business Economics of the Department of Economics and Management of the University of Trento, Professor Luigi Bonatti, Full Professor of Economic Policy at the University of Trento, and economics historian Adriana Castagnoli, former Professor of Contemporary History at the University of Turin.
Advisory Board
The Advisory Board, which will have advisory and suggestion tasks on the contents of the Festival, is composed of Elena Beccalli (Rector of the Catholic University of the Sacred Heart), Marco Fortis (Vice President of the Edison Foundation), Paolo Magri (Executive Vice President and ISPI Director), Emma Marcegaglia (President B20), Giulio Sapelli (Director of the Eni Enrico Mattei Foundation), Giulio Tremonti (President of the Aspen Institute Italy).
Media Partner
SKY TG24, as Broadcaster Media Partner, will broadcast live from its studios in Trento some moments of in-depth analysis, which citizens can follow live from Piazza del Duomo. Radio 24 will air from Piazza Fiera with its programs and the usual insights. Il Sole 24 ORE and the news agency Radiocor will follow the Festival, guaranteeing a wide coverage of the news and the main contents.
In addition, seven authoritative international Media Partners — De Telegraaf, El Economista, Financial Times, LinkedIn News, Politiken, The Yomiuri Shimbun and Wenhui Daily — will support the Festival, helping to amplify its visibility and dissemination internationally.
