“QUO VADIS? The Dilemmas of Our Time”

 

How can the climate change challenge be faced? Will economic development win the battle against the tightening necessary to beat inflation? Will high public debt eventually destabilise the authority of nations? Is energy transition achievable on the tight timescale dictated by the West? Will the demographic winter end up overwhelming welfare systems? Can populism be reconciled with democracies? The are just some of the major questions of our time that the Festival dell’Economia of Trento will try to deal with, with some of the most brilliant minds from the economic, academic and political world at national and international level.

With the new theme, the Festival dell’Economia of Trento continues its commitment to analysing the challenges dictated by a global scenario characterised by great complexity and uncertainty, offering solutions and interpretations. Indeed in 2022 the theme “After the Pandemic, Amidst Order and Disruption” aimed to take a closer look at the profound social, economic and political effects of the pandemic, whereas the 2023 edition entitled “The Future of the Future. The Challenges of a New World” focused on outlining the impact that major technological and socioeconomic transformations have on mankind. Read more

Scientific Committee

The Scientific Committee is chaired by the Editor in Chief of Il Sole 24 Ore, Radio 24 and the Radiocor news agency Fabio Tamburini and includes Professor Ericka Costa, associate Professor of Business Economics at the Department of Economics and Management of the University of Trento, Professor Luigi Bonatti, full professor of economic policy at the University of Trento, and the historian of economics Adriana Castagnoli, former professor of contemporary history at the University of Turin.

Advisory Board

The Advisory Board, which provides consultation and recommendations regarding the festival, is composed of Lucia Annunziata (journalist), Paolo Magri (Executive Vice President and Director of ISPI), Emma Marcegaglia (Chair of B20), Monica Mondardini (Chief Executive Officer of CIR), Giulio Sapelli (Director of the Eni Enrico Mattei Foundation), Giulio Tremonti (Chair of Aspen Institute Italia).

Media Partners

SKY TG 24, as Broadcaster Media Partner, will broadcast live from its studios in Trento some in-depth moments that can be followed by citizens live, from Cathedral Square. Radio 24 will be on the air with its programs and insights from Cesare Battisti Square. The Sole 24 Ore and the news agency Radiocor will follow the festival and give news coverage. In addition, two influential International Media Partners, El Economista and Financial Times will actively participate in the schedule through the contribution of their top journalists.
