Chief Economist & Head of Research - Intesa Sanpaolo

Head of Research and Chief Economist, Intesa Sanpaolo. President of the Board of Directors of the R&I Foundation. He is also a member of the Board of Directors of a number of economic associations and foundations. He is the author of publications in the fields of financial markets, banking and the management of public debt.

Pietro Modiano

Business Economist

Pietro Modiano (Milan, 1951) built his career in banking and finance after graduating cum laude from Bocconi. He held key roles, including Deputy CEO at Unicredit and Intesa Sanpaolo, CEO at San Paolo di Torino, and Chairman at Pioneer Investments, Banca IMI, and SEA. From 2009, he chaired Tassara and Nomisma. In 2018, he returned to banking as Chairman and ECB-appointed Commissioner of Banca Carige until its rescue in 2020.

Castello del Buonconsiglio - Sala Gerola

With marvellous frescoes and crenelated towers, Buonconsiglio is the most important castle in Trentino. Having served as the seat of the Prince-Bishops of Trent for centuries, today the castle is home to the provincial art and archaeology collections and the famous Torre Aquila, whose walls are frescoed with the renowned “Ciclo dei Mesi” (“Cycle of the Months”), an international Gothic masterpiece. A number of Festival dell’Economia events will take place in its Sala Gerola, which seats 110 people.
