Palazzo Calepini, currently serving as the headquarters for Fondazione Caritro, dates back to the late 16th century and was built at the behest of the noble Calepini family from the Giudicarie valleys. Between 1823 and 1844, Palazzo Calepini served as the seat of the Prince Bishops of Trento. In 1999, the building was acquired by the foundation to be used as their institutional headquarters.

Full professor of Mathematical Methods for Economics and Finance at the Scuola Normale Superiore, Pisa. Previously he was professor at the University of Palermo, Bologna and at the Santa Fe Institute (USA). His research interests include high frequency finance, market microstructure, machine and reinforcement learning, and systemic risk.
