He has received seven honorary doctorates for his work on stakeholder theory and business ethics. He hosts The Stakeholder Podcast.

His appointment as CEO coincided with his return to Italy after spending more than 20 years in London, where he served as CEO of MTS—of which he is still a board member—and previously worked at Bank of America.
